THCV: the legal cannabinoid that mimics the effects of THC, without the munchies

A horn of plenty for the medical profession, cannabis continues to unlock its secrets. One of the most promising molecules is THCV, an alkaloid with astonishing energizing and anorectic properties. Discover this natural cousin of THC, legally sold in France alongside CBD, CBG and H4CBD.

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (or THCV) is naturally present in many strains.
Long ignored by growers preferring to create strains with higher THC levels, THCV is on the rise. With its targeted, tailored effects, THCV could well become the best friend of ganja lovers who want to stay active and clear-headed, and without raiding the fridge.

Therapeutic potential

This component of Cannabis was discovered in 1973, due to its molecular structure, which is very similar to that of its larger cousin, THC.
Long neglected in favor of more popular, psychotropic cannabinoids, THCV helps regulate blood sugar levels and acts as an appetite suppressant.
This is why it is currently being studied as a treatment for people with eating disorders from bulimia, obesity or to help diabetics regulate their blood sugar levels.

Please note, however, that this is nota miracle cure for weight loss, but rather for better appetite regulation. The war against munchies could finally be won by us simple consumers.
We should also point out that studies highlighting its anxiolytic and anti-inflammatory potential are showing very promising results. As a result, it is also being studied as a treatment for post-traumatic disorders.
Finally, thanks to its neuro-protective effects, it offers real hope for future therapies against Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, two diseases for which there is currently no cure.

Green caffeine

Unlike CBD, THCV is psychoactive. Although it counteracts some of the soaring effects of THC, offering a much milder alternative experience. Consumers describe an energetic, uplifting high that’s much gentler on the body, yet still very euphoric. The concentration of flowers and vape-pen cartridges ranges from 5 to 20% THCV, but we recommend consuming them in the evening to avoid skipping all your snacks.

Many high-quality strains are already available for your consumption, but only in countries that offer legal cannabis, as is the case in France. Brittney Griner paid the price when she arrived at Moscow airport, where customs discovered a THC and THCV vape-pen in her belongings, a few days before Russia invaded Ukraine…

Among the most famous THC/THCV recreational cannabis strains are Durban Poison, a South African variety imported by Ed Rosenthal in the 1970s (5% THCV) and, above all, the absolute champion of the category: Doug’s Varin, with up to 25% THCV.

Note: if you want to enjoy it during your vaping sessions, it has a higher boiling point of 157°C (so 315°F).
