Master Class: How to roll a joint

//

The joint is undoubtedly the most popular means of cannabic public transport. But while the practice is widespread, mastering how to make it is far less so. Don’t panic, Zeweed has you covered!

Before embarking on the practical work, you will need :

  • Weed
  • Rolling papers
  • Filter cartons
  • A grinder (or your fingers)
  • A pen (or similar-shaped object) to compact the joint

How much weed should I use?
To start with, we recommend using 1/2 gram of weed and normal-sized rolling papers for OCB cigarettes.
Once you’ve mastered rolling, you can switch to King Size papers, which hold up to a gram of ganja.

Step 1: Emiettez

Use a grinder to separate and grind your weed head evenly. A grinder produces an even size and texture of flower debris, resulting in a smoother smoke. If you don’t have a grinder, separate the buds with your fingers. Be gentle with your flowers to minimize damage to the trichomes.

Step 2: Make a filter.

In the 60s and 70s, filters were rarely used in the USA. Consumed weed enthusiasts soon returned to those joints that had to be finished with tweezers. Putting on a filter radically changes your experience for the better, increasing airflow and minimizing the risk of burning your lips or inhaling tiny bits of weed.

Step 3: Assemble

Fill the paper with your weed (possibly mixed with tobacco or a substitute) and place the filter at either end of the sheet, depending on whether you’re left- or right-handed.
Once the two elements are in place, you can start to form and shape the joint with your fingers, lightly folding over both sides of the rolling sheet.
Make sure the adhesive side of the paper is facing away from you as you hold the joint between the index fingers and thumbs of both hands. Use them to pinch the paper into a taco shape, sifting the paper back and forth to distribute the mixture evenly and pack it down a little. Work it into the shape of a cylinder, taking care not to squeeze too tightly, which would restrict airflow.

Step 4: Drive

Now comes the most difficult (and crucial) part of this crash course. Tuck the unglued side of the paper into the compressed weed mixture, roll it up and use the glued edge by lightly flicking the sticky strip of the filter-side sheet with your tongue.
Once the paper is glued at this end, continue rolling to the end
Tuck the unglued side of the rolling paper onto the weed and slowly roll it towards the sticky side. Use your thumbs to roll and your index fingers to support the outside. Lick or wet the sticky strip and once again start at the filter end and work your way up to the nozzle to be lit.

Step 5: Seal

Once the paper is glued in place, use a chopstick, pen or other long cylindrical object to press the mixture towards the filter. This is where you can add any grass lost during the rolling phase.
Twist the rest of the paper between your thumb and forefinger, away from the filter, to close the joint.
Now all you have to do is enjoy the fruits of your labor. Don’t panic if you don’t get it right the first time – the mistake only cost you one sheet to roll.
