We told you last year about Winnabisa cannabis-flavored wine produced in Spain which, as required by law, does not contain no THC. Across the Atlantic, in the far-western state of California, it’s now possible to taste authentic ganja wines on breathtaking excursions.
We’re going to talk here about the two best references offered by American winemakers.
The only downside is that you’ll have to travel to California to enjoy this beverage, which will undoubtedly make you see triple. You’ll also need to budget for it: From $45 to $250 a bottle – enough to give you a hangover when you get the bill the next morning.
There are several references to Cannabis wines in California, here are some of the best:
-The first and oldest (having been available since 2016) you have Cannavines, wines available only for tasting on sightseeing tours near San Francisco that cost the modest sum of $119 per person. If you’d like to join the tour, you can do so here: https://cannabistours.com/california/marijuana-tours/#wine-and-weed-bay-area
Multiple varieties are available, but we particularly recommend the Sour Diesel Chardonnay, which apparently has a very interesting acidity that blends perfectly with the tannins of this grape variety, and the Headband Red Blend Cannabis, which is apparently to be reserved for lovers of wines with character. The brand’s owners hope soon to be able to sell their products online, a complicated step given the stricter laws surrounding alcoholic products.

The most accessible and readily available cannabic wine is Sauvignon Blanc from Rebel Coast Winery, a palm-shaded vineyard in Hermosa Beach. A very sweet white wine with peach and lemon aromas, it comes in two varieties, with either 20 milligrams of THC per bottle (i.e. almost 5 mg per glass) or 40 milligrams of THC, which you can order via the Internet… if you live in California (sorry for the disappointment).
To be able to sell it online, the brand’s owners have decided to “get rid” of the alcohol, which seems like a good idea for “dancing and laughing with your friends rather than blocking on a wall”, as they so aptly put it.
Their latest creation is produced from Sonoma clusters and married with Sativa plants and is available for $45 here: https://rebelcoast.com/weed-wine/
The wine is Vegan, gluten-free, and the fact that it’s alcohol-free means it can be sold in all licensed stores in California. It’s also much lower in calories. You can find the 107 stores carrying the product on an interactive map here: https://rebelcoast.com/find-a-dispensary/
According to its creators, this wine makes consumers want to “get naked and cuddle up to someone” and avoid another hangover forever. It’s official, the Zeweed editorial team is moving to California.
